The Molecular and Computational Biology Research School (MCB) hereby invites all PhD-students at the MCB partner units (see below), to the MCB Introductory Course. The course is primarily directed towards students employed later than march 2008, but is open to any PhD-students affiliated with any of the partners.  The MCB Introductory Course consists of two components.  First, a 2-day course at Glesvær, and then 4 half-day site-visits to look into the reaserach going on at the MCB partner sites; Department of Biomedicine, Computational Biology Unit (CBU), Department of Informatics, Department of Molecular Biology and the Sars Centre.

Part 2 - Site Visits

Part 2 of the MCB Introductory Course consists of 4 half day site-visits where the MCB-partner's research will be presented.  The site-visits start with an optional lunch at 11.15, and the official programme will start at 12 the following days.  The programme is open to all students who have participated in MCB activities.

Where: Høyteknologisenteret i Bergen, Thormølensgate 55.  Lunch will be served in the cantine in 1st floor at 11.15, the official programme starts at the seminar room ("N-terminalen") in the 5th floor (Bioblokken) at 12.00.

Part I - Glesvær

The first component is a 2-day course, February 24-25 combining student presentations, lectures, group work and social activities at Glesvær, a 45 minute drive away from Bergen.

We will be accommodated in 6-person flats at Glesvær Rorbuer (http://www.glesver-rorbu.no/) and enjoy good food at Glesvær kafé og catering (http://www.holmakaien.no/public.aspx).  The flats and the café are situated at the waterfront in beautiful surroundings, and there will be rich opportunities for social activities and to enjoy the beautiful nature at Glesvær.  Food, lodging and travel is free for the participants.
