About Parallab

Parallab is the High Performance Computing unit of the University of Bergen. As such, Parallab operates the supercomputer facilities of the university and provides support to the users of these facilities. Parallab has a track record in parallel computation that dates back to 1985. Parallab is organized as a unit in Uni Computing - a department in Uni Research AS.

Parallab's research staff works with applications as well as research and development. The staff carries out operational and development tasks in various aspects of high performance scientific computing. These include state-of-the-art distributed computing technologies (known as grid computing) and numerical methods and software. Special emphasis is given to bridging the gap between computer science and computational sciences and between academic research and industrial needs, by undertaking multi-disciplinary research and development projects with industry and other branches of science.
