About Parallab

Parallab is the High Performance Computing unit of the University of Bergen. As such, Parallab operates the supercomputer facilities of the university and provides support to the users of these facilities. Parallab has a track record in parallel computation that dates back to 1985. Parallab is organized as a unit in the Bergen Center for Computational Science.

Parallab's research staff works with applications as well as basic research. The staff carries out research and development tasks in various aspects of high performance scientific computing. These include state-of-the-art distributed computing technologies (known as grid computing) and numerical methods and software. Special emphasis is given to bridging the gap between computer science and computational sciences and between academic research and industrial needs, by undertaking multi-disciplinary research and development projects with industry and other branches of science.
